I began private Pilates sessions with Beth several months before my hip replacement surgery, which was over a year ago. I supplemented the privates with reformer classes.

I am certain that my excellent recovery from the surgery is largely due to the strengthening, flexibility and body awareness I developed during my sessions with Beth.

Beth designs each private session around what the client’s body needs at that moment, while also maintaining a long view of the body’s history and the client’s ultimate goals. She takes notes and refers to them regularly, tracking progress and which Pilates movements are most efficacious. She often suggests home exercises to build on our sessions together, and I always appreciate that the suggested home work isn’t difficult or “duty”. They are uniformly pleasant extensions of our work together, and a thoughtful reminder of how simple intentional work can
bring big improvement in one’s well being.

After each private session I feel renewed.

Beth’s reformer classes constantly evolve and are always interesting. Beth is attentive to each student’s needs. Her explanations of body dynamics and movement, and the reasons for
each Pilates movement, are uniformly excellent. The movements, and her detailed instructions, create a mini journey in each class, the result being a more open body and and increased awareness of the body after an hour’s session.

Beth is constantly studying and attending workshops with leading Pilates teachers, and bringing her new insights, techniques and tools to her students. I have noted that Beth’s clients range in age from young, fit practitioners to older students who are adjusting to the challenges of aging and sometimes painful bodies. She has empathy for the frustrations and challenges of physical limitations, and always offers a targeted movement or exercise that works within a limitation and often resulting in more ease.

I plan on continuing my work with Beth forever.

I highly recommend Beth Bilal and Pilates To Move. I have been working with her for several years. My initial goal was to improve my balance and flexibility to help my horseback riding. I participated in private sessions and weekly reformer classes. The classes were small and I always felt I had lots of personal attention and enjoyed the camaraderie.

After I broke my hip, I switched to private sessions to work on range of motion and strength so I could get back on my horse. These sessions have been very successful and together Beth and I have addressed various movement patterns so that my feet, hips, spine and shoulders can work harmoniously. The studio is very quiet and private, so it is easy to focus on the work and I have seen lots of improvement in my balance, flexibility, strength and range of motion. I look forward to all of our sessions and plan to stay with her for many more years.
